You know that “future” version of yourself you think about sometimes?
The one who feels so good in her body. Who goes to the pool and rips of her cover-up without a single hesitation and struts around without a single care in the world. Who orders what she wants at dinner and wakes up the next morning and just… moves on. Doesn’t beat herself up. Doesn’t worry she’s “off track” or “ruining progress”. Who just feels “free” after ears if not a lifetime of being at war with dieting and her body.
I feel like most women spend years wondering if she’s actually in there. Like you’ve daydreamed about her so much but you’ve never met her and you’re starting to wonder truly if she’s even in there.
She is. I have watched her come out more times than I can count after 9+ years now in my women’s weight loss business. I want to tell you about one of them because this story will give you hope…she’s in there for you too.

Meghan came into my world a few years ago and honestly I have been wanting to share her story for sooo long because it is one of those ones that just gets me every time (no, seriously, the first time I read her testimonial I literally cried🥲). Not just because of the 45 pounds (though hello, yes, we are celebrating that🎉🎉). But because of what she said when she described who she was before that I relayed to SO much
She had “no energy to even TRY to lose weight.” She was carrying too much and the idea of adding one more thing felt impossible.
Sound familiar? Yeah.
She also had the belief the way so many women do, that losing weight meant deprivation and misery. Boring bland chicken and broccoli. Sad salads that leave you feeling lowkey depressed and still hungry (which reminds me of the time in high school I thought I was going to try to lose weight and I bought a bunch of bagged Romaine and light hidden Valley Ranch and thought that I was just going to live on that for months on end and I think I lasted two days😅). Cutting out everything she actually enjoyed. And she knew herself well enough to know she couldn’t sustain that (WHO CAN?!) She had tried enough versions of that story to know it was never going to stick like so many of us have, unfortunately
So she felt stuck. This is just how it’s going to be.
Then she signed up for one of my programs alongside her mom (I love this detail so much by the way because of my own story with my mom). And what changed wasn’t just her meal plan. It wasn’t the workout routine. It was this.
“My old habits, mindset, and the beliefs I had about eating and exercise were the real things depriving me.”
Not the food. The story she had been sold about food. I’m constantly preaching your weight loss is about so much more than your calories…And here’s another example of what I mean. The beliefs you hold about What it takes to lose this weight, about yourself and your ability to do this…those stories MATTER.
Once that story changed, everything else did too. And I mean everything.
Here is what she actually did. And please notice how none of it is glamorous or extreme or some secret method nobody has ever heard of.
She was consistent. Her definition of that: “it’s about what you do most of the time versus sometimes.” Not perfect. Not dialed in at a 10 every single day. Just showing up most of the time, for long enough, until it stopped being something she had to force and was just flowing seamlessly as a part of WHO she is.
She logged her food. Honestly and accurately, without spiraling over it. And what she found was not what she expected. Not that she was eating too much of the wrong things so much. But that she was actually missing things she needed. This is one of my favorite things to see happen because so many women come in thinking about what they need to cut. What they discover is what they need to add.
She meal prepped. Measured her portions. Planned ahead for dinners out instead of showing up and hoping for the best. Built staple meals on rotation so she wasn’t reinventing the wheel every single week (game changer!!) Stopped eating mindlessly out of the bag while making dinner or zoning out on the couch.
Boring? I mean, yeah…kind of lol. Effective? COMPLETELY. Done consistently over time by a woman who finally believed it was going to work? Life changing.
Down 45 pounds. Size 10 to a 2 to 4. No more all or nothing. No fear of food. No belief that the body she wanted required suffering to get there.
She eats what she actually enjoys. Nothing is off limits. And she has been maintaining for years now, on her own, just living the method like it’s who she is. Because it is who she is now.
When we caught up she was telling me how she came off a vacation recently where she overindulged a few times too many (yes, this is still going to happen because you’re human not a robot). And she did not spiral. Did not start over. Did not spend a week punishing herself. She went right back to what she calls “regularly scheduled programming.”
Years later. On her own. Still bouncing back exactly the way we taught her.
That is what Goal Body is all about. Not just the ability to lose the weight. The ability to keep it without making your whole life about it.
…but here is where Meghan’s story stops being a weight loss story…
She left a relationship that was no longer serving her. Started a new career. Found someone who actually loves her, supports her, and encourages her. And in her own words she has “experienced more life in these few years than she had in way too long.”

I cannot even tell you how many times I have watched this happen. Women lose the weight and then they leave the job. Leave the toxic relationship. Find their voice. Start setting boundaries they never could before. Show up for their own life in a way that has nothing to do with the number on the scale.
Because here is what actually happens when you start keeping promises to yourself. When you look in the mirror and are PROUD of the woman looking back. It ripples. Your confidence is not just about your jeans fitting. It is about how you walk into a room. What you say yes to. What you finally say no to. Who you let in and who you stop letting stay.
Your worth was always there. The question is whether you carry yourself like someone who knows that.
Meghan does now.
“I shudder to think of where I would be had I not made the decision to sign up.”

Three things to take from her story.
- Stop believing that weight loss requires deprivation. The food is not the problem. The story you have been told about food is. Change that story and everything else starts to shift.
- Consistency over intensity. What you do most of the time matters more than any perfect week you have ever had. The boring repeatable habits done over and over are what actually build the transformation. It feels small in the moment and then one day you look up and it’s just who you are.
- A bad week is not a reason to start over. Getting back to yourself fast after a hard moment is the skill. Not perfection. Just regularly scheduled programming. Every single time.
Meghan, I have told your story more times than I can count and I get a little emotional every single time. So glad you are in my world. ❤️🔥
This is what total transformation actually looks like. The body, the mind, the life, all of it. And it starts with one decision. The same one Meghan made a few years ago when she signed up with her mom and had absolutely no idea what was waiting for her on the other side.
If you read this and felt something stir, that version of you that is waiting to come out is ready. She has been ready. She is just waiting for you to decide it is time.
Goal Body Coaching is open.
Xoxo, Hilary
